My school is an equal opportunity employer. If a person of Asian background has the knowledge and skill set, then they would meet criteria for the job. As a principal in a parochial school the salary is a huge deterrent to potential hires. Again, stop forcing diversity and let it happen naturally. Depending on the district, they aren't looking for Asian Americans because they aren't the right "fit." They want a Spanish speaking Black American as an example. To be honest, over the course of my career I have found that candidate pools are mostly devoid of Asian-American candidates. I don't believe that racism is the root of the problem; I believe that Asian-Americans are less likely to consider education, because they tend to be high achievers and are more likely to pursue careers that are far more lucrative.
