In week 1, we studied the external forces that threaten the organization - those macro- environmental forces such as Political, Environment, Socio-cultural, Technological, Economic, and Legal (PESTEL). We also learned about Porter's 5 Forces model, which is used to identify and analyze the industry's competitive environment as it affects the firm/organization. These are important concepts that are often used by organizations in the strategic management process. In week 2, our focus will shift to the internal analysis of the organization. In this week, we think about resources, capabilities, core competencies, and how they combine to create value and competitive advantage. We will discuss the important concepts that provide frameworks for an effective analysis each week. Discussion Assignment: Review the weekly reading materials and resources, then describe how a firm's internal resources and capabilities create value for its customers AND sustainable competitive advantage. Construct your response from the perspective of your employment environment or previous experience. Make sure the answer is cited, in-text, and in proper APA format.
