4. A home security system integrated within a small network. a. Embedded System Part: The components such as video sensor/camera, ultrasonic sensor a door lock or buzzer and output display controller need to be connected with the embedded system. b. Networking Part: Assume that the home security system is part of a larger network consisting of other such systems and a central street monitoring station. There are between 8 to 10 nodes in the network. You are required to outline a network design of how these systems will be connected. The network design should describe your: i. proposed topology ii. addressing scheme iii. communication media to be used, and factors which may adversely affect the data communication. iv. List all your assumptions and justify your design choices./nI. Assessment Requirements You will work individually on the assessment to design an embedded system with sensor network communication on either one of the given scenarios or on an idea proposed by you and agreed with the lab tutor. If the latter is the case, the system and sensor network communication you will produce would have to be of sufficient complexity. You will present your design in the form of a technical report containing the following six sections listed in table 1. Section 1. Introduction 2. Relevant background information 3. Methodology 4. Final design solution 5. Conclusion 6. Bibliography Table 1. Report sections The report should be between 12 pages and 20 pages maximum in length (font to be used is verdana, 11 point). If you include either a front cover sheet, list of tables, or reference /Appendixes/bibliography pages these will not count towards the size of the report. You must submit the following: 1. The report as detailed in the scenario section in electronic format to Dropbox. 2. A statement of ownership which states that this is your own work.
