Question

5.17 Water enters a 2 kW pump at a rate of 2 kg / s with a pressure of 100 kPa and leaves at 1 MPa. Due to frictional losses

in the pump part of the energy supplied to it is lost as heat to the surrounding air. Assuming that the temperature change of water is negligible and that its specific volume is constant at 0.001 m3 / kg, calculate the rate of entropy increase of the surrounding air at 17 °C.
