7.2. Project Deliverable 2 (PD 2-6 %) : Aspen Plus or Aspen Hysys Simulations- Simulation Design with Q & A (scheduled in week 16): For the second project deliverable, the students

must submit a detailed simulation report covering multiple items related to their Aspen plus/Aspen Hysys-based computational model/models used for designing the heat exchanger. In addition to the simulation report, the students must submit a sample Aspen Plus or Aspen Hysys-related simulation file for one of the simulation cases. Following the submission of the simulation report and the sample Aspen Plus or Aspen Hysys-related simulation file, a Question and Answer (Q&A) session will be conducted for each group. Additional details related to PD 2 are specified below: • The simulation report must cover all important items related to the simulation of Aspen plus/Aspen Hysys-based computational models used for designing the heat exchanger. Items to be covered include (i) Model description, (ii) Model formulation, (iii) Model parameters used, (iv) Solution strategies adopted, (v) Key simulation results related to evaluation of design alternatives and design optimization, (vi) Comparison of simulation results with manual calculation results performed in Project Deliverable 1 with necessary comments/remarks and (vii) Overall conclusions from simulation results. A sample Aspen Plus or Aspen Hysys-related simulation file for one of the simulation cases must be submitted together with the simulation report. Two submission links will be provided for submission of the simulation report and sample simulation file, respectively. • Following the submission of the simulation report and the sample Aspen Plus or Aspen Hysys- related simulation file, a Question and Answer (Q&A) session will be conducted for each group where students from that group will be asked questions related to the materials covered in the simulation report and the sample simulation file submitted. • Please note that during the Q&A session, other team members are not allowed to assist the specific student to whom questions are addressed. Failure to do so will result in penalties.
