(a) Calculate the cumulative 25-year ESALS for the design lane (i.e., the lane with the most traffic). Make an initial assumption for the pavement structural number (SN) of 4.0. (b) find the thickness of each three layers of the pavement. To do this, you should start with using the nomograph or the AASHTO equation to find the SN, which will be equal to SN3. To find the SN3 use the nomograph provided in the next page, and also use the AASHTO equation. To find the other SN values (SN₁ and SN2) use the equation only. Hint: You can use the MR to find the SN3, E3 to find the SN2, and E2 to find the SN1. SN₁= a1*Di SN2=SN1+a2*M₂*D2 SN3=SN2+ a3*M3*D3
