Design a relevant digital communications platform for stakeholder engagement in a THE context Background Marketing is fundamental to the development, growth and success of the tourism, hospitality and event (THE) sector - the sector is commonly known as the 'visitor economy'. The emergence of social media and digital marketing has been a significant 'game changer' in marketing activity. This is especially due to the ability of digital platforms and assets to interest, attract, re-assure and remind customers (tourists, visitors, diners, guests and users) of available experiences. These platforms and assets are known to us as: social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn and Snapchat; video content; blogs and eBooks/ePamphlets; branded logos; influencers; and apps. Skilful use of these platforms and assets has a significant, and often speedy, impact on the behaviour of not only customers but also other stakeholders (such as employees, shareholders, investors). Coinciding with the growing influence of the digital world of marketing is an increasing concern for the resources and environment on which tourism, hospitality and events depend for their existence. Consequently, we now talk about making developments which are sustainable, and these developments touch every aspect of our lives - as emphasized by the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) https://sdgs.un.org/goals. The biggest concern relates to damage done to the planet, and in particular climate change, although the issues are much broader than those associated purely with climate. Despite much talk and the need for us to think and behave more sustainably, actual action is slow. So perhaps an increase in related marketing - and especially digital marketing given both (a) its relatively low use of energy and other resources and (b) its wide reach and usage - is the way to both speed up and increase people's thinking and behaviour. Task Your task is to create and design a platform (Tik Tok, blog, Instagram) or asset (e.g. video story or reel, epamphlet, brand) which will ‘make a difference' and change attitudes and/or behaviour. You will need to choose: - the part and location of the visitor economy you want to focus on (e.g. a place, sector, or business) the resources you are concerned about (e.g. people, environments), possibly linked to SDGs - the target audience you want to focus on (e.g. customers, employees, suppliers etc) - - the platform or asset you want to use - the content you want to create 3 1828 University of Central Lancashire UCLan You need to create the platform or asset, which you can share with the tutor e.g. share a link or upload content/document, and then explain your choices for how this will potentially change the attitudes and behaviours of your target audience (800 words justification) - Justifying the design of your Social Media project, and explaining how you have used marketing principles in your design. PLEASE NOTE AS PART OF YOUR PLATFORM OR ASSET: "Social Media Disclaimer: This entire social media project including all linked pages has been submitted as partial fulfilment for the degree of BA (Hons) in [INSERT NAME OF YOUR DEGREE PROGRAMME HERE] at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), Preston, UK.
