Biochemistry II Winter 2024 – Final Assignment Instructions Over the term, we have explored various metabolic pathways of biological macromolecules (carbohydrates, fatty acids, amino acids, nucleic acids). Through this final project, you will communicate your knowledge and transfer the learning into your own creative format. You can work individually or with a partner. Choose 6 distinct pathways and visually depict their connectivity. There should be at least one pathway related to each macromolecule. The format can be any of your choice. It can be in the form of a poster, infographic, drawings, or any other. Professionalism and creativity are taken into consideration. Be clear in your visuals and label any pathways, intermediates, and structures. Your work will be due at the end of the day on to be submitted in paper format, dropped off at my office). Grading Rubric: Evaluation Criteria Knowledge and in- depth understanding of the course content (metabolic pathways and the linkages between them), content accuracy Clarity of Presentation Creativity and innovation (authenticity of the format and ideas, inventive use of available tools and techniques) Superior Provides accurate information on key metabolic pathways, Good (to be uploaded on Discovery in PDF or JPEG or Mostly accurate information on Average Incomplete or inaccurate Weak Lacks accurate information on metabolic including substrates, pathways, some metabolic inaccuracies or pathways, omissions in significant gaps in and misconception details understanding of biochemical products, and enzymes (relevant regulations). Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the biochemical processes. Information is organized logically and clearly, with a well-defined flow of content. Visual elements (graphs, figures, diagrams...) effectively enhance understanding, text is concise, clear, and easy to read. Demonstrates creativity in ideas, design, and presentation, engaging viewers effectively. Incorporates Information is mostly organized logically, with a discernible flow of content. Visual elements are present and contribute to understanding, text is generally clear and readable. Shows some creativity in design and presentation, engaging viewers to some extent. Includes visual information on metabolic pathways, misunderstanding evident processes Organization of information is somewhat confusing or disjoined. Visual elements may be present but do not effectively enhance understanding, text is somewhat unclear and difficult to read. Limited creativity in design and presentation, resulting in a somewhat dull or unengaging Organization of information is unclear or absent. Visual elements are lacking or do not aid in understanding, text is unclear and unreadable. Lacks creativity in design and presentation, resulting in a bland or uninteresting poster/infographic. poster/infographic. Overall presentation quality and professionalism Overall assessment innovative visual elements and/or interactive features. Captures viewer attention and maintains interest. Exceptional presentation quality, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail in design and execution. Represents a polished, professional product. Exemplary work, meeting or exceeding expectations in all criteria elements that enhance presentation but lack innovation. Viewer attention is somewhat captured. Good presentation quality, with attention to detail evident in design and execution. Represents a well-prepared Visual elements are basic and do not significantly enhance presentation. Viewer attention may wane. Fair presentation quality, with some areas lacking attention to detail or polish. Represents an average product. Adequate effort, meeting some product. Strong effort, meeting expectations in most criteria expectations but with room for improvement Visual elements are absent or poorly executed. Fails to capture viewer attention. Poor presentation quality, with significant deficiencies in design and execution. Represents a subpar product. Inadequate effort, failing to meet expectations in most criteria If any citations are used, place in-text citations with superscript numbers. Place a list of citations at the end of your work (or on a separate page).
