Cardiff School of Computer Science and Informatics Coursework Assessment Pro-forma Module Code: CMT312 Module Title: IT Management, Change and Innovation Lecturers Assessment Title: Individual Portfolio Assessment Number: 2 of 2

Date Set Submission Date and Time Feedback return date If you have been granted an extension for Extenuating Circumstances, then the submission deadline and return date will be later than that stated above. You will be advised of your revised submission deadline when/if your extension is approved. If you defer an Autumn or Spring semester assessment, you may fail a module and have to resit the failed or deferred components. If you have been granted a deferral for Extenuating Circumstances, then you will be assessed in the next scheduled assessment period in which assessment for this module is carried out. If you have deferred an Autumn or Spring assessment and are eligible to undertake summer resits, you will complete the deferred assessment in the summer resit period. If you are required to repeat the year or have deferred an assessment in the resit period, you will complete the assessment in the next academic year. As a general rule, students can only resit 60 failed credits in the summer assessment period (see section 3.4 of the academic regulations). Those with more than 60 failed credits (and no more than 100 credits for undergraduate programmes and 105 credits for postgraduate programmes) will be required to repeat the year. There are some exceptions to this rule and they are applied on a case-by-case basis at the exam board. If you are an MSc student, please note that deferring assessments may impact the start date of your dissertation. This is because you must pass all taught modules before you can begin your dissertation. If you are an overseas student, any delay may have consequences for your visa, especially if it is your intention to apply for a post study work visa after the completion of your programme. NOTE: The summer resit period is short and support from staff will be minimal. Therefore, if the number of assessments is high, this can be an intense period of work. 1 This assignment is worth 70% of the total marks available for this module. If coursework is submitted late (and where there are no extenuating circumstances): Extensions to the coursework submission date can only be requested using the Extenuating Circumstances procedure. Only students with approved extenuating circumstances may use the extenuating circumstances submission deadline. Any coursework submitted after the initial submission deadline without *approved* extenuating circumstances will be treated as late. More information on the extenuating circumstances procedure and academic regulations can be found on the Student Intranet: https://intranet.cardiff.ac.uk/students/study/exams-and-assessment/extenuating- circumstances https://intranet.cardiff.ac.uk/students/study/your-rights-and-responsibilities/academic- regulations By submitting this assignment you are accepting the terms of the following declaration: I hereby declare that my submission (or my contribution to it in the case of group submissions) is all my own work, that it has not previously been submitted for assessment and that I have not knowingly allowed it to be copied by another student. I declare that I have not made unauthorised use of Al chatbots or tools to complete this work, except where permitted. I understand that deceiving or attempting to deceive examiners by passing off the work of another writer, as one's own is plagiarism. I also understand that plagiarising another's work or knowingly allowing another student to plagiarise from my work is against the University regulations and that doing so will result in loss of marks and possible disciplinary proceedings ¹. 1 https://intranet.cardiff.ac.uk/students/study/exams-and-assessment/academic-integrity/cheating-and- academic-misconduct 2 Assignment This assignment is a continuation of work on the area of either 'Placements' or 'Year of Study Abroad' you have been allocated to work on previously. For this assignment, you are required to compile an individual portfolio of work consisting of: 1. Strategic Competitive Analysis 2. Business Process Model 3. Gap analysis 4. User Story with Acceptance Criteria 5. Software product quality requirements 6. Data model 7. Reflective report Please make sure to cite any references used in the assessment using one of the following referencing styles: Cardiff Harvard or IEEE (one or the other, not both!). The guides and example of how to use these referencing styles are found at: https://intranet.cardiff.ac.uk/students/study/study-skills/academic-writing- communication-and-referencing/citing-and-referencing-support DELIVERABLES 1. Strategic Competitive Analysis Analysis of commercial viability of the system: presented as a strategic competitive analysis using ONE appropriate tool, technique or methodology, which were presented in one of the contact sessions (maximum 2 pages, the font size must be readable). You're allowed to use any tool, technique or methodology which you consider as the most appropriate, impactful or effective, with exception of SWOT and PESTLE - these cannot be used for this task. 2. Business Process Model You will take responsibility for the design of a key business process that the university needs to support the area you have been allocated to develop ('Placements' or 'Year of Study Abroad'). You will need to develop a process model for your chosen business process, which will clearly show the essential activities needed to deliver an effective service for your area. Note: You need to think wider than just modelling the interactions between the actor and the application for your area. You need to capture the underlying business process that supports a new/improved service that will be provided by this Application. 3 3. Gap Analysis Provide gap analysis based on FIVE key activities in your process model, which have the most significant impact for change, to: • critically evaluate the current situation ● provide your justified recommendations for the future situation, assuming that your business process and associated services are developed by the university in a system to support your allocated area ('Placements' or 'Year of Study Abroad'). The gap analysis should be presented in a table with the following columns: Activity Evaluation of Current Situation Recommendations for Future Situation 4. User Story with Acceptance Criteria Choose an area from your Gap Analysis which you consider the most important for your system, and develop a user story for this area. Your user story should have clear acceptance criteria, and you need to make sure your user story is written in such a way so it is testable. 5. Software Product Quality Requirements Provide FIVE software product quality requirements for your system which you consider most important for supporting your business processes. These should be written so they are testable and the relevance to the business process is clear. 6. Data Model Develop a conceptual data model showing the main entities, attributes and relationships to support your business process for your allocated area. 7. Reflective report Write a concise individual reflective report (around 1200-1500 words), in which you: Choose and discuss ONE methodology, tool or techniques you found to be the most effective and justify why this is the case. Discuss ONE methodology, tool or technique you found the most difficult to apply and explain what you would do differently. Critically appraise and reflect on your learning process, practices and outcomes whilst working on the project, and discuss how skills you have acquired or enhanced will improve your future learning. Provide 3 recommendations for change to promote team working next year. Note: not having team working is not an option. In your reflective report, you should avoid being too descriptive and not focusing on what you did in terms of actual work for the module. Instead, you need to present a critical analysis of the techniques/tools, process, outcomes, your contribution, skills and competences you acquired or enhanced, etc. Make sure you discuss reasons for your arguments and justify your statements using citations when appropriate.
