Chapter 11 in Technology and Change explores

how the technology of the industrial revolution

impacted jobs. A particularly interesting change

that was analyzed was how the general workforce

changed, "The typical worker was now a hired

member of a firm, a wage-earner rather than an

independent producer." This was sort of

disheartening to read, the thought that creativity

and individuality was grinded away by the

industrial revolution, but then I thought of how an

artisan might take back that control of their craft.
