of competition through law enforcement, advocacy, research, and education" While consumers theoretically become more complacent, the Federal Trade Commission is still going to be operating in its capacity. If more bad business practices uproot, then we will see the FTC operating more, just like with any government organization. This reminds me of the IRS overhaul a few years ago, more monetary transactions were taking place in a multitude of different avenues like crypto, online, and through phone apps, and all the IRS did was hire more employees. I believe the FTC would do the same if an increase occurred. ⠀ We live in something called "The Post Trust era" where everything is taken with a suspicion and double take. This is not the mid 20th century where there was very little deceptive business practices occurring. People have several different aids aside from the FTC to help educate themselves. Social media being one of them. When a negative event occurs it spreads like wildfire through out society. Chris However, there is one thing i can see a problem with and it is crypto currency. The government is not fully regulated into this yet and currently it is the wild west for fraud. I think once it is regulated that might change but we have a long way to go. Cheers https://www.ftc.gov/ Reply Jalen Sealee Monday Good Afternoon everyone! To answer this week's discussion question, yes. I can agree that because there are agencies like FTC, people become more negligent because they can fall back on an agency such as the FTC. According to the "The Federal Trade Commission" it states "The Federal Trade Commission empowers the agency to investigate and prevent unfair methods of competition, and unfair or deceptive acts or practices affecting commerce. This creates the Agency's two primary missions: protecting competition and protecting consumers." The Federal Trade commission is responsible for helping the relief for consumers such as restitution and penalties for any wrongdoing. The company has a lot of trust and many people take advantage of this. I believe it's important for people to stay vigilant and look out for themselves rather than solely relying on the FTC, This can furthermore help prevent bad business practices and potentially save time compared to navigating the processes of the FTC. A good balance between trust in the FTC agency and personal responsibility is essential for an effective strategy. I hope this helped, Jalen Sealee reference: https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/media- resources/what-ftc- ⠀ Reply protec does#:~:text-The%20basic%20statute%20enforced%20by, ting%20competition%20and%20protecting%20consumers.
