# Consider the structure shown in Figure 1.1 below where all structural members are connected by pins. A vertical force F is acting at the pinned joints at C, E, and F as shown in the schematic. The dimensions of each member are given in the figure. a) If the diameter of the double shear pin at B is 15mm, determine the maximum force F that can be applied to the structure. UseTfail= 100 MPa and F.S.=2.5 for the pin at B. b) Determine the normal strain and deformation of members DF, CD, and CA due to the applied force F obtained in part a). The cross sections of members DF, CD, and CA are10mmx15mm, 12mmx12mm, and 8mmx20mm, respectively. The structural members deform linear elastically and their elastic modulus is 200 GPa. c) Determine the minimum allowable stress (allow) of the structural members based on the normal stresses in members DF, CD, and CA due to the applied force F obtained in part a).
