Description For this assignment, you are expected to write a factual conflict summary describing a significant conflict situation that you were directly involved in. This assignment is worth 10% of your

final grade. Instructions Make sure that this is a conflict that you feel comfortable writing about and that you feel comfortable having it read by the marker. This must be an interpersonal conflict of some kind, either between you and one or more other people, or between other people with whom you have a relationship of some kind where you were drawn into the conflict in some way. When picking a conflict to discuss for this assignment you are invited to be selective regarding the conflict they decide to describe. Try and avoid past experiences of conflict that are particularly difficult or traumatic to discuss further. You are not to use any concepts from the course. This is meant to be a narrative account based on what you experienced. Your summary must include a description of the main participants, a narrative of the conflict from its beginning to whatever conclusion was reached, and a description of what you learned from the conflict. Your summary should be between 750 and 1000 words long. Use 12 point font, include 1 inch margins, and make double spaced. Include a cover page. Considerations in Choosing a Conflict to Write About Before you consider sharing personal experiences, please know that there are some limits to what can be held confidential within the assignment review. If you share any of the following, I will need to consult with others at the University to determine if we are obligated to intervene: • Information that someone, including yourself, is in immediate danger. • Information that someone under the age of 16 has experienced, is experiencing, or is likely to experience abuse. • Information that lets me know that there may be future violence on campus or affecting the campus community. • For example, an assignment that describes someone under age 16 being abused by a parent, and suggest that there are people still in the household who are under 16 would trigger an obligation to consult with others at the University to determine whether intervention is required. You may still want to choose this conflict to write about. If you do, I will consult and I will connect with you. I will respond with care and compassion and will also refer you to places to get support if you need that. Marking Rubric This assignment will be marked on a 10-point scale using the following rubric: • 10 - Truly outstanding and exceptional work. • 8-Superior work demonstrating strong analysis, thoroughness, good composition, and creativity. • 6-Passable work that needs focus, elaboration, and/or editing. • 4- Weak work that is vague, poorly written, and/or is difficult to understand. • 2- Unacceptable work that provides no evidence of analysis, or does not follow instructions. 0-No answer is given.
