Question

Discussion During the next few days practice using intent and effect as part of your conversations with others, particularly in conversations where there is disagreement, or the possibility of disagreement. Speak

about your intent, speak about the effect you experienced in response to what the other person said or did, inquire about the intent of the other, inquire about the effect your behaviour had on the other. Look for places where there was an intent/effect mismatch. While doing this exercise, see if you can enter into a place of compassion for the other person's backstory. Next, reflect on these experiences and write a brief description of one experience using intent/action/effect. Comment on what worked well and where you struggled to use the model. In your responses to others in your group, offer suggestions for what the other students might have tried in response to where they struggled.
