Question

0.1 m³ s1 of a gas are dispersed in a tank 1.8 m in diameter using a Rushton turbine. The density of the liquid in the tank is 1020 kg

m3. The shape factors for the tank are given below. S1 = 0.333 S2 = 0.25 S5 = 0.1 S6 = 1.1 )Draw a sketch of the gas dispersion tank including dimensions. )Describe the features of gas dispersion in the loaded region for the impeller. Include in your description the impeller speeds that define the lower and upper limits of the loaded region. If the ratio of gassed power to the un gassed power for the tank filled only with liquid (PG /P) is 0.35 and Kp for the impeller is 4.0,calculate the power required to operate the tank at an impeller speed that is in the middle of the loaded region. The gas dispersion tank is scaled up so that the volume of dispersion is five times that in the smaller unit. The scaled up tank is geometrically similar to the smaller tank. If the power per unit volume of dispersion is the same in both the large and the small tanks, calculate the impeller speed in the large tank.
