ENG4UN Non-Fiction Summative Assignment Podcast Presentation This is a summative assessment and is worth 15% of your final mark for the course You will prepare a 5-7 minute podcast in

which you engage the students in the class in your interpretation of one significant contemporary issue related to the concepts of progress and the progress trap and one or more of Gaugin's questions: What are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? as explained in A Short History of Progress. In order to prepare your podcast, you will listen to one or two professional podcasts on some aspect of your chosen issue from iTunes, Google Play, Spotify or another source. The podcast(s) you choose will be the primary sources necessary for you to prepare your response to Gaugin's Questions and must be cited in your podcast. The total playing time of the podcast or podcasts you listen to must be at least 50 minutes. Your podcast should briefly reference and summarize the podcast you chose and respond to it by exploring some aspect of the issue it presents and how it answers one or more of Gaugin's questions. You must use your own words and your own voice to engage the students in your podcast, so your talk must be engaging, but you may also include some comments from others (students, teachers, parents, or others) relevant to your issue. Be creative. You will play your podcast for the class and then will engage in a question-and-answer session with the class. All podcasts must be submitted on Brightspace. See Brightspace for the due date. Absences during the time of podcast presentations must be explained with a note approved by the Vice Principal. All podcasts will be made available for review by the whole class after they have been presented so they can be used as reference material for the summative Synthesis Essay.
