My plan is to become a probation officer, and while writing is not my best
skill, I did develop strategies to help in completing the three [3] assigned
Discussions for this course; those discussions are clearly connected to my
future in the real world. First, I had to read each assigned story more than
one time; the fact that they were short stories was helpful in managing my
time in developing notes for each story. After taking notes, I responded to
each Discussion, one discussion based on each assigned RB, then waited
for classmates to respond so that I could have a 'conversation' about the
readings. This online collaboration with classmates helped me understand
various viewpoints about each story and also provided insight into aspects I
overlooked; I think I also provided valuable insight and feedback for my
classmates. While it may seem like the discussions were one-sided, I
believe that the online forum will help me communicate effectively as a probation officer. Writing reports while communicating via email or other
specific platforms will serve me well with colleagues, clients and others who
will need to understand my findings about cases and situations relating to
clients in the judicial system. Explaining different opinions or insights clearly
