Give as much detail as possible. Identify the type of community (i.e. geographical, attribute, interest etc.) and what makes it a community. Community is defined as: "A number of people with something in common that connects them in some way and that distinguishes them from others." Example on how to write it: 1. Identified Community: (130 words) We have chosen to work with the female population; specifically, those who are street involved and work in the sex trade industry within the City of Hamilton. What creates a community for these women are their similarities in their socioeconomic status, their sex trade work, and their oppression. Beyond that, they build a connection through shared emotions and experiences regarding these similarities. However, what brought them together most was the resource of the STARS program run through Elizabeth Fry in Hamilton. Unfortunately, the funding for that program has been entirely cut, leaving these women without a joint agency and resource. This is what sparked our desire to work with this community. Different part: (80 words) Street involved persons and sex workers are resilient. They face extremely harsh circumstances while also having to deal with the unaccepting nature of today's society. Still, due to the negative narrative about street involved persons and sex trade workers, these individuals still fight for their rights to live within society. These individuals are subjected to violence, powerlessness, and other forms of oppression. However, they find a way to move forward every day, despite their experiences.
