Question

Forensic proteomics is an emerging field in forensic sciences, both for use in crime labs and for forensic anthropology. Consider a sample containing a mixture of 3 proteins. Design an

experiment that will produce the mass spectrum for each of the 3 proteins (with a unique peak for each) as a final product. The proteins have the following characteristics: Protein 1 has high molecular weight and has a net positive charge, Protein 2 has low molecular weight and has a negative net charge, Protein 3 has high molecular weight and has a net negative charge. The proteins are structurally different, but their hydrophobicity is similar. Explain your design choices and why you expect the proposed analysis to work.
