Use MATLAB SIMULINK to solve the following three problems. Provide the SIMULINK simulation file and a small
report explaining your solution of each problem:
Q1 (Solar Cell Modelling) Consider a solar cell with Isc= 6A, Voc = 0.6 V, lo= 1uA, Vt=25 mV,
Rs=0.0020, Rsh=100 and n=1
a. Use the solar cell model in Simulink (Simscape) to simulate this cell and get the following data:
IV and power curves for 500 W/m2, 1000 W/m2 and 1500 W/m2 irradiances. Submit
SIMULINK simulation file
b. Use the simulations in part a to calculate the Fill Factor, Maximum Power Point and the resistive
load that will produce this operating point. Show results in a table
c. Connect as many cells needed to obtain a module with 12V output under MPP loading. Get the IV
curve for the module for 1000 W/m2 irradiance. Submit SIMULINK simulation file
d. Using the module from part c, shade once cell to 10% nominal irradiance. How does are the
voltage and power output affected? How is the power output of the affected cell? Answer these
questions showing simulation results such as plots and measurements.
