In frames like that in Problem 2, the distributed load may be passed to the beam through a series of floor beams (as shown in the figure below). Compare (a) the support reactions, (b) the mid-member bending moments, and (c) the maximum shear forces when floor beams are used. Matrix operations can be conducted by hand or using other tools (e.g. Excel or others). Note: E and / are the same as Problem 2. Hint: Use superposition of the second and the third beams in the reference chart.
