You are very excited to tell your friends about the fun you've had and everything you've learned on this trip to Brazil. Write a letter to your friend about it. Additional research may be needed. The textbook and internet are a great start, but Montco's online library is also a valuable resource. These are the guidelines for the letter (initial post): • • • Write a 1-page letter (12 font, 1.5 line space, paragraphs) to your friend, telling them about ONE of the topics in the Activities. Letters should be at least 300 words in length. Copy and paste the letter directly into the textbox of the forum. Do not attach the letter. This becomes the "initial post" in the forum. (at least 300 words in length) Some ideas or examples are: What did you love about the quinoa? (Explain WHY you liked it so much, tell them how it grows, where it grows, how much of it is grown per year, how it is used, its nutritional value, and what you hope to make with it someday. Share a recipe for quinoa salad with your friend.) Was there something unique and interesting at the coffee plantation? (surprised by how coffee trees grow? Were you interested in the types and varieties of coffee? What are the uses of coffee? How long it's been around? What about the wonderful aroma of the tree plantations?) Write your letter to your friend about the things you learned about coffee! Was it the food in Rio? (what spices, what street-foods, textures, core ingredients, and table manners were of interest to you? What shocked you or surprised you about your food experience in Rio?) Tell your friend all about your excitement about food in Rio! Were you appalled by the malnutrition in the region? Were you surprised? What does malnutrition look like? What can be done to avert it? What did you learn most about malnutrition in these regions? Let your friend know your thoughts. Letters can be humorous, imaginative, creative, and also part-fiction (we know you weren't really in a coffee plantation in Brazil this week). Still, all letters are to be based on one of the concepts in Chapter 10 - Activities Collection.
