Introduction There are numerous social and environmental impacts of food production, distribution, and waste management. From the energy needed to produce fertilizers for our farm fields to the methane gases produced

by rotting food in our landfills, feeding our population has a huge impact on our earth. For this assignment, you will be thinking about what you believe to be the most sustainable and least sustainable food. For this discussion, you will have to think about what sustainable means to you (social, environmental and economic impacts). You'll have to think about all of the impacts of the food system: land use, water use, energy use, carbon emissions, fertilizer runoff, transportation, social impact on rural communities, etc etc. To help guide you, here is a cool infographic to help you find the most climate friendly foods: How to Eat in a Warming World.Links to an external site. If that link doesn't work for you, here is an infographic detailing some of the environmental impacts of food productions from the EEP (similar to the US EPA): Environmental Impacts of FoodLinks to an external site. Initial Post In your initial post, I'd like you to write 2 short paragraphs. The first paragraph should list what you think could be the MOST sustainable food and why. Be specific, don't just say a generic term like "seafood" or "vegetables". Not all seafood or vegetables are equally sustainable. Pick a specific food item. Your second paragraph should list what you think could be the LEAST sustainable food and why. Again, be specific with your food choices and don't pick an entire food group.
