when social media has been added to the market. Freedom of speech is one of the vital parts that make the dream work when to comes to media outlets. In addition, to freedom of speech, censorship comes into the picture when producing certain community outreach of political candidates. Using platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter provide more opportunities to reach out to the community like never before. For instance, most of the public is on their phones and scrolling away for the most outrageous source of information they seek on their pages that are handpicked for them which can be used as advantage for political leadership and candidates. During the 2016 presidential election, one of the candidates, known as Donald Trump, was able to use twitter at his advantage when he was in the process of his political campaign. His presence on the platform boosted his image and demonstrated what kind of image he specifically wanted to display for the people who are voting for him. Despite the positives of the media, there are negatives when it comes to getting involved. Media holds so much power in terms of how it is influential to people who use it. The longer negative effects of media are that when making a mistake such as being exposed about saying the wrong thing for the wrong reason can blacklist candidates or anyone as a matter a fact to the internet. Political candidates must make sure that they are careful about what they say knowing that it can have negative consequences for their running.
