KAPLAN INTERNATIONAL PATHWAYS Planning for Statistical Report: The Statistical Investigation will be typed as a Word document, with sections and subheadings. Any graphs created using software such as Excel will be inserted into the Word document. Structure: Your report should be divided into the following sections. 1. Title page Content: KAPLAN INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE London STATISTICS INVESTIGATION REPORT Module: FC301- Statistics Student Name XXXXX Student ID: XXXXXXXX Tutor(s) name(s): XXXXXXX Date XXXXXXX I confirm that this assignment is my own work. Where I have referred to academic sources, I have provided in-text citations and included the sources in the final reference list. • Title page • Introduction • Methodology • Calculations and Graphs • Analysis of data Conclusion • References • Appendices KAPLAN INTERNATIONAL PATHWAYS 2. Introduction • Provide background information on the two numerical datasets under investigation. • Clearly state the research objective - 3 questions you are planning to answer based on selected dataset Introduce the purpose of the report and the significance of correlation/regression/time series analysis data that you have collected. • Research Questions: Formulate three specific research questions that can be addressed through concepts you have learn so far such as correlation/regression/time series analysis. Ensure that the questions are clear and relevant to the datasets. Data Collection: Briefly describe the process of data collection, including sources and methods. Mention any limitations (if applicable) Tool used for doing analysis, we have used Microsoft Excel for graphs and calculations 3. Methodology Give a brief introduction about the topics (theory) that you will be planning to use for answering the three research questions. Example: In calculations and graphs, you will be using descriptive statistics [mean, median mode, range, variance, standard deviation, Q1, Q3, IQR], so that, you can explain how those are calculated in Methodology. For the main analysis, you might use time series, correlation, and regression, so that, you can give a brief introduction about this analysis in the methodology section. # In the analysis of data section, you will be just presenting the results and making comments about your results. 4. Calculations and Graphs Provide descriptive statistics [mean, median mode, range, variance, standard deviation, Q1, Q3, IQR] of both the datasets, (or wherever applicable). Explain the significance of the values you got above. Box plot will be a good choice over here. [You got one of your graphical representations] - talk about outliers (if any) KAPLAN Create visualizations (graphs or charts) to illustrate the distribution of data. Explain your graphs in words and highlight all the important information. You must highlight any outliers and try to explain about them. You can also include (optional): • skewness and shape of the data. The graphs should be presented and labelled appropriately. 5. Analysis of data a) Correlation Make a correlation table ✓ Show the calculations of correlation Explain the independent and dependent variable and the Correlation between them. ✓ Discuss the direction and strength of the correlation. What is r² value (coefficient of determination)? Comment on r² b) Regression ✓ Show the calculations of the Regression line value. Interpret the meaning of the gradient and y-intercept value you got in the calculation ✓ A Scatter plot with a regression line will be a good choice over here. c) Time Series [applicable only if your data is based on time] ✓ Show the calculations of the Moving averages or Central moving averages. Comment on the findings from the Time series graph ✓ A time series graph with a trend line will be a good choice over here. ✓ Try to answer what are the future predictions? (using trendline) 6. Conclusion You should summarise any findings in the form of supported recommendations. 7. References - Include a list of references for any sources used in the report. There should be at least 4 references in Harvard style. 8. Appendices - Sample of the dataset. Screen Shots of your work on Excel. INTERNATIONAL PATHWAYS ### General Tips: - Keep language clear and concise. - Use visual aids to enhance understanding. - Explain statistical concepts in a straightforward manner. - Encourage students to seek help or clarification if needed.
