MET 2120 LABORATORY GRADING POLICIES Lab reports must be typed using word processing software, and submitted through Blackboard Course Site. Title: The title must be brief but very explicit. It must be verbally related to the lab. Purpose: It sets the tone of the whole report. You must state the purpose of the lab and expand on it. Explain the terms and how they relate to what is going to happen in the lab. Procedure: This is a step-by-step analysis how you did the experiment. Do not allow the drawing to take the place of steps in the procedure. Data: It will be necessary to have a table of data for every lab. The set-up will be shown to you in class as we decide what information is necessary for that particular lab. It must be neat and readable. Calculations: Sample calculations must be neat. Calculations are performed by using a computer. Do not do more than one trial for this section. Drawing: Your drawing(s) of the equipment must be detailed, precise, and architectural in style. Emphasize the part of the equipment that is important in the lab. You could replace your drawing(s) with photo(s) nicely taken. Graph: The graph must be generated by a computer software, and be neat. The scales should be chosen so that the graph fills a large portion of the paper. If more than one graph is plotted on a single sheet of paper, they are to be distinguished by geometric symbols. Conclusions: This section should tie together all the other sections of the lab report. Discussion of the results, good and bad (and why they were), is done here. Interpret the graphs. Summarize the validity of what you were attempting to do and how it could have been done better.
