Module Title: Introduction to Law 77-0994-00N Task 2: Essay (65%) Description Choose one aspect of English Law to consider in detail in the different topics studied as part of the module. Comment on and evaluate how your chosen aspect of English Law work, and consider the place of that law in society. Assessment Criteria Students' work will be assessed by the following criteria: 1. the quality of the description of the chosen area of English Law; 2. the evaluation and analysis of the aspect of English law 3. the use of relevant academic resources 4. the use of good academic English and referencing using the OSCOLA citation system. Format 1. Your work must be submitted using a Microsoft Word file format (doc or docx). 2. Filenames should use only letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, and should be less than 72 characters in length. 3. Your work MUST NOT be password protected. 4. Your work must be double-spaced. 5. If you have a learning contract that tutors must take account of when marking your work, please include appropriate wording on your script. Footnote referencing using only the OSCOLA referencing method MUST be used for this assessment task; the Harvard or APA referencing systems are NOT permitted. 7. It is your responsibility to ensure that your work is successfully submitted. Always check your email receipt and that your work is viewable via the submission point following each submission. Check that the receipt indicates a number larger than 0 next to the file-name of your submitted work. 8. The word limit for this assessment is 1,500 words. Please note that if your work exceeds this limit, it will be marked up to the word limit only. 9. The following WILL NOT be included in your word count: Materials listed in your bibliography, table of cases, table of statutes, or footnotes. Only references should be placed in your footnotes (case citations, statutes, journal articles etc). Any material other than the above which is contained in your footnotes is poor academic practice for the purposes of this assessment and will be disregarded by the marker.
