That sounds horrible, doesn't it? I better explain. "It is worth reminding ourselves that those with whom we disagree often have things to teach us" (Entwistle, 2021 pg 123). I do not wish to have enemies, nor am I looking for confrontation, but it is important to remain open-minded. Far too many conflicts have started because people would like to force their point of view on others and when others do not concede, they try to use force to get their opponent to submit. Yes, I am a Christian, and I love Jesus, but I am not so closed minded that I cannot recognize that the Christian church has made mistakes over the years. Some people may have felt as if it is their duty to support the church and denied accusations, or made others feel as if they were wrong for bringing up mistakes by religious leaders as their accusations would make the church look bad. I feel the opposite, that we must listen to those that speak so poorly of our religion to know why they speak so Q Search " a Activities Assignments Choices Feedback Forums Learning Extras Resources 7:46 PM 4/2/2024 + ← My LAPU Discussion 5 | Models of Integra X M Inbox (33,237) sayansola5@g X M Christian class week 5 initial po: X + https://course.lapu.edu/mod/forum/view.php?id=1383072 LOS ANGELES PACIFIC UNIVERSITY Home Dashboard My courses Helps APU Library Tech Support denied accusations, or made others feel as if they were wrong for bringing up mistakes by religious leaders as their accusations would make the church look bad. I feel the opposite, that we must listen to those that speak so poorly of our religion to know why they speak so poorly of Christianity or our church. That is how we improve, not by ignoring the issues, but by correcting them. Those that have similar viewpoints to ours can at times have less to teach us so it can be particularly useful to listen to those that see the world differently. That does not mean that those that oppose the Church are going to be 100% accurate in their assessment, or that we should base all our decisions off what others think, I have just found that you can learn something from anyone if you are only willing to listen. Outside viewpoints are extremely useful in being able to improve oneself an sometimes their criticisms are valid so to ignore them will only cause more damage.
