/n Assignment The page limit is 4 pages (including any images, margins 2.5 cm, font size no smaller than 11 points). References and cover sheet are not included in the page limit. There is no penalty for being under this page count, but it may be more difficult to meet all marking criteria. You will lose marks from the communication section of the marking rubric if you go over this page limit. Use the submission template linked here. Cite your sources using the Vancouver reference format. INSTRUCTIONS: Describe one complex socio-technical problem which engineers are involved in (particularly within your discipline or local region you are familiar with). Give reference to any relevant political, economic, social, technological, legal, environmental (PESTLE), and ethical factors involved, making it clear how they contribute towards the problem. Explain, potentially with use of a causal diagram, one specific area in which engineering research can contribute towards progress in this area. Provide a brief but specific research plan which includes information about the research question, the aims, methodology, and how the expected outcomes may be used. Provide an ethical assessment of the research plan with reference to potential outcomes. Make sure your research plan isn't too broad - plan for something that can be achieved in about 3 years with a fairly small research team.
