Reflective Plan of Action

Students will write a well-thought out 2-4-page reflection paper of how researching (NAEYC

6d) this particular diversity topic has impacted their understanding of diverse family

characteristics that may differ from their own values or experiences. (NAEYC 6e) Students

will develop a plan of action (NAEYC 6e) to use moving forward based on their

understanding of the need to create respectful, responsive, reciprocal relationships with

families of the children in their classroom (NAEYC 2b) and to engage with them as partners

in their young children's development and learning in their own classrooms now or in the

future. (NAEYC 2b)

Completion and submission of assignment:

Students are required to save and submit their completed DEBI Project assignment in

Backboard by the due date. This assignment meets the following JCC Early Childhood

Education Program Learning Outcomes: EDU 131 Course Student Learning Outcome

addressed with this assignment: Reflect on personal understanding and value of diverse

family characteristics within the community context. Apply strategies to build respectful,

reciprocal family, teacher and community partnerships. Demonstrate evidenced-based

strategies and techniques to include, engage and support families and communities in

children's development and learning.
