PSY 270 Lab report Grading scheme (10pts total) Each section is scored with .5pt increment. (i) Describe the purpose of the experiment (i.e., the research question or hypothesis) 1. Up to 2 points for correct and easy-to-understand articulation of research question and hypothesis (ii) Describe what was manipulated (Independent variable: IV) and what was measured (Dependent variable: DV). 1. Up to 1 point for correct description of IV. 2. Up to 1 point for correct description of DV. (iii) Report and describe the group results (Students may also report and describe their own personal results in addition to the group results). One figure (with a figure caption) showing the group data must be included in the report. 1. Up to 2 points for correct and easy-to-understand description of the group results. 2. Up to 2 points for a fully-specified (e.g., axis labels) and easy-to-interpret figure with a figure caption (iv) Interpret the results in relation to previous findings in the literature. Here, students are expected to go beyond what they have learned in the class. Students need to read, understand, and cite at least two original reports of the relevant studies in APA format. 1. Up to 1 point for appropriate references to at least two pieces of empirical work (scientific peer-reviewed journal articles) 2. Up to 1 point for the quality of the logical integration of the current experiment and cited work. 3. Deduct 0.5pt for each incorrect use of APA 7 format for references and in-text citations. (v) Each report must be a maximum of 2 pages in length (double-spaced and typed). References do not count toward excluded from the page limit. Please refer to the example on Quercus. 1. TAs are not expected to read beyond 2-page (double-spaced; References excluded).
