Q2. Plot the graph for load vs deflection and using slope of graph for load vs deflection

of step i, ii and iii to prove the reciprocal theorem and discuss your results.

Q3. Plot the graph for load vs deflection and using slope of graph for load vs deflection

of step i, ii, iii and iv to prove the superposition principle and discuss your results.

Q4. Using Eq. 2 calculate the moment of inertia of beam, section width (b) and section

depth (d) are already given above. Then using Eq. 1 to calculate the theoretical

deflection at position 1 (central position) for 5N, 10N, 15N, 20N, 25N and 30N. What

would be the implication in term beam strength if section width is replaced by section

and vice versa? Also, research about moment of inertia and why it is related to beam

strength?

Q5. Plot the graph for load vs deflection for theoretical deflection (Q4) and

experimental deflection (Table 2) at central position and prove the small deflection

theory and discuss your results.

Q6. Calculate the maximum stress in Beam (Steel Beam with section width b =

19.1mm and d = section depth/height = 6.5mm - Fig. 2) for all the loads as reported

in Table 2. You also need to discuss/comment bending stress in the beam if Beam

material is replaced with Aluminium? Guidance: See Bending Stresses in Beams.
