12) Egoism is that situation in which a person acts in one’s own interest even though it may pretend that it is thinking of the interest of others. For example, volunteering in a blood donation camp with the intention of getting a certificate and added advantage in finding a job in social service sector. Empathic distress refers to a situation in which you start experiencing someone else’s pain as your own. For example – Becoming tearful or sad on someone else’s problems or pain. Another merging is also the same as empathic distress. The discussion in forms us about how psychological aspects and the types of altruism affect the relationship and a person’s own way of living.
