Question

QUESTIONS: 1. Say you had to summarize this paper for a friend who has not taken any quantitative methods modules. Write the summary, which should be 250-300 words long, focusing on getting across the main point of the paper and conveying why it is important/interesting but without using any technical terms. 2. You have another friend come to you who doesn't study quantitative methods either but who has to run a regression for an essay she is writing for another module? She brings her regression output to you and asks what the p-value is and how to interpret it and asks why a low p-value means that we can reject the null hypothesis. How would you answer her? (Remember: the best answers will be the least technical ones; you are explaining this to someone who has not studied statistics.) 3. Suggest one alternative dependent variable and one alternative main independent variable that the author(s) could have used to measure the same concepts as in the paper. In doing so, make sure to also justify why your suggested variables are good ones and remember that the best answers will be realistic as well. 4. Suggest two more variables that the author(s) could have controlled for, and briefly explain why these would have been good additions to the paper. 5. Suggest one (new) interesting research question that comes out of the findings of this paper. That is, think of a question that is based on the findings of this paper. A good question will be stated in a single sentence and be in the form of a question. In 1-2 additional sentences, briefly explain why you think this is a worthwhile research question to answer.
