RESEARCH QUESTION ASSESSMENT Type: Due Date: Length: Assignment 22/05/2024 2,300 2,600 words (strict word limit) Task description: The Research Question Assessment requires you to reflect on your area of practice and develop a research question which is supported by a summary of what is known and why your question is important. You are then required to use an artificial intelligence (AI) tool to generate a 300-word response which ‘answers' your research question. Finally, in 1,600 words, you must use current literature and evidence to create an academic argument to justify whether the Al response to your question is accurate, somewhat accurate or inaccurate. DO NOT include an introduction or conclusion in your Research Question Assessment. Use the following underlined headings when presenting your assessment: • Title: your assignment title should identify the topic. It should provide a broad overview of where you are headed and what you are examining for example 'the use of cognitive behavioural therapy in supporting people with eating disorders' OR 'the management of venous leg ulcers for those with type II diabetes.' (~5-25 words) Background: what is the background to your question and why do you think there is a clinical need for this question to be answered? Introduce your research topic, summarise the existing knowledge on this topic, present the information sequentially so that you can end your background section with a clear research question which has been informed and justified by current literature. (~450 words) Research question: your research question should be clear and follow the PICOT/PICO format; it will generally include some of your key words. (~10-25 words) Al summary: this section presents a 300 word 'Al response' which addresses your research question. The response in this section must be Al generated. (300 words) Al appraisal: use current literature and evidence to create an academic argument to justify whether the Al response to your question is accurate, somewhat accurate or inaccurate. (~1,600 words) Criteria & Marking: against the marking rubric. Submission: this written assignment is to be submitted via Turnitin. Word count: the word count provides guidance around the depth of discussion required to adequately address the question. To move outside the set word count will generally have you moving away from the assessment expectations (i.e. providing insufficient information or providing information which is too detailed or extensive). Inclusion of in-text references in your word count is at your discretion. The reference list is not included in your word count. Considerations: • Do not underestimate the volume of work required to complete this assessment - regularly engaging with your work will assist and focus your progress. • The following is an oversimplified example summarising the evidence presented in an academic argument to address the validity of the Al response: Papers A, B and C all suggest X, while papers D, E and F suggest Y. Given the small sample size of paper A and the lack of rigor identified in paper B, it might be considered that only paper C fully supports X which indicates a lack of support for the Al assumption. As papers D, E and F each have large sample sizes, are all recent (having been printed within the past three years) and were conducted by experienced researchers, it would appear Y is the optimal approach and thus directly contrasts the management strategy Al suggests.
