Why is choice of career an important decision? I believe that the choice of selecting a career is a significant decision because it often determines what you will do for the majority of your life. Additionally, the choice of career can impact an individual's earning potential, work-life balance, and opportunities for professional growth. It can also influence one's social circle. One is likely to spend a considerable amount of time with colleagues who share similar interests and goals. Therefore, it's important to take the time to carefully consider career options. Making an informed decision can have a significant impact on the overall quality of life. 2. Discuss one important factor of consideration when choosing a career discussed in the lecture/text. ⠀ One important factor of consideration when choosing a career discussed in the lecture/text is "Don't choose your career solely based on salary" (Kato, 2021). Additionally, the lecture provided research information. For instance, "research suggests that meaning and purpose, rather than money, lead to happiness and well-being" (Kato, 2021). I also believe in this because I have seen the effects on others who choose their profession based on salary. When we choose a career based on salary alone, we may end up in a job that doesn't align with our values, interests, or strengths. This can lead to feelings of dissatisfaction, burnout, and even depression. Therefore, I agree with this. 3. Discuss your results on the Myers-Briggs and its relationship to a career match for you based on the website. Do you feel it is correct? As an INFP, I must say that the career matches suggested on the Personality Page website are incredibly accurate. The career matches listed for an INFP were Writer, Counselor, Social Worker, Teacher / Professor, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Musician, Clergy, Artist, and Childcare. I am thrilled to see "psychologist" and "psychiatrist" on the list, as I am planning to pursue one of those paths in the future. I am also currently majoring in psychology. Additionally, a career as a writer also appeals to me, as it aligns with my love for creativity and journaling. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with these career matches and feel a strong connection to them. Reply
