Review the case studies for suburban mall retrofit from https://retrofittingsuburbia.com/ (scroll down to the map and click on several to read the description and see what they did. Pull up a map or aerial of one of the major malls in Connecticut (Westfarms, Buckland Hills, Meridan Square, Crystal, etc.) and either trace it out or pull it into a graphics software package. Using the design rules we talked about in class, sketch out a new plan for the property that will create a walkable, mixed use project with a good street network. Describe how your plan incorporates the principles from the talk and the concepts in the Retrofitting Suburbia mall projects. Your submission will be graded on your consideration of urban design as outlined in Dr. Tice's talk as well as the topics discussed in Chapters 6.1, 6.2, and 7 of the course notes.
