Selected TOPIC: • Punishment: Forms and Purpose - The paper should minimally discuss the various forms of punishment, from early history to present, to include various punishments used in a correctional facility to control inmates. The paper should identify various ethical arguments for and against certain types of punishment (i.e. withholding of privileges, flogging, solitary confinement, capital punishment, etc.) as well as the legal ramifications of utilizing such methods. The paper should include a thorough discussion of the Eighth Amendment and its applicability to the topic, as well as U.S. Supreme Court cases that address prisoner rights.
