Task 4 Estimation of the volume of earthworks for the house foundations We need to excavate a 600mm wide trench (with vertical slopes) along the perimeter of each house as part of the foundations beneath each house in the housing estate. Figure 4.1 shows a simplified cross-section of the foundations (bottom right) and all dimensions involved. Also shown is the plan view of the foundation trench along the perimeter of each house (grey thick line) with the completed external wall lying in the middle (black thick line). The depth of the foundation is 800mm below the finished floor level (FFL) for each house given in Table 4.2 Task 4: Calculate the dig volume and the quantity of concrete required for the foundations along the perimeter of the house you have been working for in Task 1. Table 4.1 House assignment based on the last digit of your Registration Number. The numbers next to the house name correspond to the plot numbers in the plan of Figure 1.1, eg TAY 22-23 is the house within plats 22 and 23 in the plan. Last digit of Registration Number 5 1 6 2 3 B 9 Name of house assigned TAY 22-23 TWEED 43 TAY 5051 TWEED 40 RANNOCH 31-32 Table 4.2 Finished floor level (FFL) and original ground level (OGL) for each house type. For this Task, assume that the OGL is the same for the full floor area of the house.
