THEMES OF JUSTICE IN SPANISH LITERATURE AND FILM INFORMATION ESSAY NO. 1 For our First Essay, discuss the following topic: "MARSHLAND" The Spanish Transition is the background of the film "Marshland". This political, social, and legal period is portrayed through the plot, the characters and many images of the movie. In our class discussions we highlighted the idea that the film doesn't have a proper ending. In your essay discuss if the fact of not having a closed ending is related to a specific political issue of the Spanish transition. If so, which one? In other words (and trying to direct your ideas): Do you see any parallelism between the pending political issues related to the Transition and the final arrangement between the two police officers? In your essay, you should explain your thesis and give evidence based on the film. Make sure that you answer properly to every question and that you exactly address the topic. Don't expend time explaining the argument of the movie. Organize your essay as follows: ● Introductory paragraph: Advance your main idea. Two body paragraphs supporting your thesis and giving an example. Conclusion with your final idea and personal opinion on the topic. You will work on your own, able to consult ONLY your class notes and our discussions, PowerPoints, the material uploaded into Blackboard, and any other internal documentation that you may consider of interest. Don't use external background. THE IDEA IS TO WORK WITH THE MATERIALS DISCUSSED IN CLASS AND UPLOADED TO BLACKBOARD. Therefore, no quotes or source information is needed in your essay. Special (and inexcusable) Instructions: ● I will need a maximum two-pages, double-spaced essay. Don't send the essay by e-mail. Upload it in a word document to the assignment page posted in "Week 6: Essay 1" on Blackboard (see blue left section of BB). The paper could be written either in English or Spanish.
