Question
This assignment requires you to think critically about who you are
and what makes you...YOU! In order to complete this paper
successfully, you must address each of the 3 steps below in order:
Step 1
You will need to identify 3 people in your life that you feel will
accurately give you feedback regarding how they perceive your
overall "personality". Preferably, pick 3 people that have differing
roles in your life (ex. mother, friend, teammate).
Step 2
From the 3 people you selected above, you will now need to get
their overall assessment of your personality. You will need to ask
the following questions to each person:
How would you best describe my overall personality?
.Are there any situations in which you have experienced my
personality to change or differ from how I typically behave or
respond? If so, describe in detail.
. Please record questions/answers on another sheet of paper
because you will need to include these at end of paper.
*Students have found that emailing the questions to their
respondents has worked best so then you can just print out the
email with responses.
Step 3
You will now complete a formal paper addressing the following
topics in order:
1.) How I Perceive Myself: discuss the 3 main areas that make up
your personality (Psychological Core, Typical Responses and Role-
related Behaviors). After addressing each area, summarize how
you would describe your "overall personality".
2.) How I Believe Others Perceive Me: describe how you believed
the 3 people you selected would perceive your personality. Did you
think they would all perceive you the same, differently and why?
3.) How Others Perceive Me: using the answers provided by the 3
people you selected, discuss how others actually perceive your
personality. Did their answers correspond with how you believed
they perceived you, why or why not? Did you learn anything new
about yourself by the feedback you received?
4.) Overall Summary & Sport Focus: using the "Phenomenological
Approach to understanding personality, how would you summarize
your overall findings of why you believe you are...YOU. ALSO-
include any details in this paragraph on how you feel sport/physical
activity has also influenced your personality/nStep 2
