Introduction

In today’s world, many children are not given fair chance at education, and many other opportunities in life because of their social status, country, gender, and the circumstances into which they are born. Children can be compartmentalised as the age group below the age of 18 from the age of 3 (“Child Protection”). The UN General Assembly says that children have the right to ‘protection, education, health, care, shelter, and good nutrition.  It further says that children have economic, social, and cultural rights that include the right to live a standard life, the right to health, and the right to education (“The Rights of the Child”). It also has to incorporate the non-discriminatory principle like the right to life with physical and mental integrity. In a year, nearly 15,000 children who are under the age of 5 die every day because of poverty and discrimination (“World Child Hunger Facts - World Hunger Education”). The children are overweight and some are suffering from anemia. They are subjected to child marriage and that threatens the children’s future and health. Because of this they also drop out of school. They are constantly challenged in getting a quality education. Poverty hits them hard, nearly 60 percent of primary school children drop out of education (Hillman and Jenkner). The essay will make attempt to understand the importance of equal rights for children from low-income families.

Children from low-income families should be given equal rights as that can break intergenerational poverty and contribute to society. Children who are under the poverty level often have difficulties in meeting the basic necessity like clothing, education, health care and many more. They become a perpetrators of child abuse and other mistreatments. The mistreatments might include substance abuse and they also lack coping stratergies and will have individual issues (“Poverty and Its Effects on Children | Children’s Bureau”). Children from low-income families have the right to enjoy education like kids from other backgrounds (Human Rights Watch). During a difficult situation like an epidemic, the educational rights that are experienced by low-income family children are disrupted and devastated. Discrimination is experienced by children with disability, poverty, and gender and who are from an ethnic and racial minority background. As children are more vulnerable to the low-income state, the European Social Charter has addressed the right to shelter, health, and education. And moreover the protection of the family and safeguards from abuse and child labour. As it is estimated that nearly 150 million girls might get married before their 18th birthday by 2030 (“25 Million Child Marriages Prevented in Last Decade due to Accelerated Progress, according to New UNICEF Estimates”).  In this world there are about 1.8 billion who are between the age group of 10 to 24, are in lack education which in turn affects contemporary job and business opportunities. In today’s world, the relative income inequality has reduced but the absolute income inequality has increased as that has further brought up come children and families with low family income are left behind. This creates a situation where they are left behind. This situation will make one more generation fall into the trap of poverty.  In this case, to reduce extreme poverty and to give access to the right to life and nutritious life. And also brain development and health risks are because of the low-socioeconomic status and they affect mental health. The actions by the government impact the children if they are from a low-income background, they might find society to be negative as they might be constantly exposed to the poor condition due to poverty in all spheres. For example, a place like Sahel has got its hope because of investment in education and employment opportunities, many have got the opportunity to work in sustainable energy sources

In the current environment, the government cannot consider children from disadvantaged groups as a priority as that might put more strain on the system. Moreover, children having socio-economic and ethnic differences might not have developed the cognitive and language, and language development that are taught to privileged children (“Poverty and Its Effects on Children | Children’s Bureau”). So it might be tough for them to cope with normal education. This might disrupt the learning behavior of the children and further put mental pressure on the children.  As research says that 90% of children might have issues in emotional development, learning, and speech. In order to address this issue alternative education can be provided. But children who are from low-income families can be provided with alternative education that involves only fewer hours of instruction and limited subject material that is needed from them. The children from the low-income. Spending on children’s services might not reflect the underlying needs of the child’s population as that involves legal support and family support to address the issue. For example, in South Africa there when they estimated to implement the approach to support the children they found it extremely inadequate to meet the demand.

It showcases the structural and unequal education system in the world. The ultimate goal of society is to provide an opportunity for all individuals because that will make society evolve. Because of their low-income background, the children face difficulties in social issues, behavior, and health and these can be addressed only by providing equal opportunities. By proving equal opportunities and rights, the children will be able to overcome the inequalities in economic, health, and education.Alternative education can be portrayed as a solution to the problem but it cannot be determined as equality. In terms of the standard, they might not be as equal to the normal education pattern. A system like free meals and other special services based on the need of the country can be introduced as that can make the children enrol themselves in education. The sustainable development goals focus on promoting inclusive economic growth, addressing inequalities,  and protecting children from violence. They can be addressed using sustainable goal development. In addition to the above-mentioned measures, UNICEF has said that registering children at birth can help to recognize and safeguard their rights (Nations). And can ensure that nobody violates the rights and nobody goes unnoticed. A worth-mentioning example of the program in Argentina that connects rural students in remote areas with teachers both in person and online. Another such example in South Africa is called, “TechnoGirl” which gives disadvantaged young women opportunities in the STEM fields (“An Open Letter to the World’s Children”). In today’s world, there are software and technology that are helping to empower people through big data and artificial intelligence. With regard to the funding, the funding formula can be revised and the laws can be formulated based on the need of the country. A robust evaluation can be formulated and an act can be created based on the ambition of the actions and policies (Webb).

To sum up, all governments should consider the challenge and build a better education system that can create opportunities for all. The children have all the rights to participate in society and in civic engagement. Children should be given equal rights and urgent actions should be taken to empower them and shape the world. By focusing on the child's rights, they can develop to their fullest potential.
