Instructions

Please produce an annotated bibliography based on 10 sources, with two

short paragraphs (2 sentences each paragraph) for each source.

Paragraphs: The first paragraph should paraphrase (and cite) the

argument of the source that is relevant to your project (what they are

saying that is relevant to the historiography of the topic). The second

paragraph should explain in what ways the genre of the piece (review

article, research article, dissertation, historical monograph, etc) influences

how you can use it in your work. What are the advantages (uses) and

disadvantages of each kind of secondary source? In some cases (for the

book review, for example, you may argue it's not an appropriate source

to use).

Kinds of sources you must include: you must have one of each of the

following kinds of secondary sources: a dissertation, a historical

monograph, a peer reviewed research article, a peer reviewed review

article, a book review, a encyclopedia entry, and a popular history book.

If you have trouble locating a specific kind of source, you may leave one

of the 10 sources blank, and write two paragraphs explaining in the first

where you looked for that kind of source, and in the second what would

be its utility.
