The labs will have a mix of simulations and practical tasks. The practical tasks will be completed using the equipment in the lab, such as Digiac 3000, in combination with other electronic equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, and Signal Generators. The simulation tasks will be carried out using a mix of Multisim, and MATLAB Simulink. The tools to be used in each case is clearly stated in the lab worksheets provided. You are to carefully follow the instructions provided in each of the lab worksheets and answer any accompanying questions accordingly. Sensitivity: Internal After completing all the labs, you are to produce an individual technical report based on all the tasks you have performed for all the labs on or before the deadline (12:00 UK time, 18/12/2023). Your report will be assessed following the assessment rubric below. 4 UNIVERSITY OF DERBY Assessment Content The coursework for 5EN503 is made up of the following labs each of which contains details of all the tasks, tools, and instructions on how to complete them (details are clearly stated in the lab worksheet for each). 1. Lab 1: Practical (Op-Amp - Review): Objectives: To recognize and calculate op-amp transfer characteristics. b. To predict and measure comparator output for positive reference voltage. To predict and measure comparator output for negative reference voltage. d. To calculate gain and output voltage and input voltage for an op-amp comparator circuit. 2. Lab 2: Practical (Active Filters): a. C. Objectives To determine the cut-off frequency and -3dB voltage level for a loaded RC Low-pass filter. a. b. To determine the cut-off frequency for a loaded RC High-pass filter. To determine the cut-off frequency for cascaded filter circuits. d. To recognize the effect of loading passive RC circuits. e. To reduce the effect of cascading and loading filter sections. 3. Lab 3: Simulation (Design and Simulation of PID controller Using Op Amps): C. Objectives To understand the operation of a PID controller. b. To learn how to design and simulate PID controller using Multisim. a. 4. Lab 4: Simulation (Buck Converter using MATLAB Simulink) Objectives a. To understand the operation of a Buck Converter b. To learn how to design and simulate a Buck Converter using MATLAB Simulink 5.
