A As I have been reading articles and other resources discussing my topic on the controversial diagnosis of shaken baby syndrome and the families who have been falsely accused and left broken, there are a few ethical issues I have found related to my topic. Part of my project will be discussing that the triad that is supposedly only found in SBS or abuse cases is also linked to underlying medical conditions. It is obviously wrong and unethical to perform testing on children or anyone to show the specific signs and symptoms of shaking a baby. There have never been any studies that have deliberately shaken a child in the name of science to provide the public and medical professionals with specific findings. By not fixing this gap or not providing enough information to the public is unethical by itself. Not providing enough information is unethical because it can create a lack of trust and transparency between the public and medical professionals and studies. Insufficient information can be unethical when dealing with this case from a legal perspective. How can someone be charged based on allegations and a flawed diagnosis, with not enough scientific data to defend their innocence? This is unethical and unjust. As AMA President Gerald E. I have seen the "cherry-picking" of information in a few studies where they dismiss the new medical science and try to discredit it. This leads the public to believe that there would only be one reason a child has passed away or is injured. There is a bias in the research which is unethical as well.
