Instructions
1. Create your own example of a 2x2 matrix,
with all entries non-zero, that has exactly one
eigenvalue. Your matrix should be different than any of
those in the notes or text examples. It cannot be a
multiple of the identity matrix.
2. Post your matrix in the format [a,b;c,d]. a,b is the first row;
c,d is the second row. Give a brief explanation of how you
created your matrix. There are several different
approaches you might take.
3. Optional peer response: look at the post from at least
one other classmate and critique the method used to
create the matrix. Do you think the method should work?
Alternatively, if you believe your classmate's method
works, describe another way the matrix might have been
created.
