Question

When you read something and you experience an intense emotional response to that reading, good or bad, you are resonating with that text. Film does this, too, as does music. What causes this resonating? Usually, it's because what we read reminds us of something or it matches with our life experience or what we value. Poets make resonating possible by making choices while they write. And that is the topic of this week's discussion board. For this week, choose one poem of the four assigned and explain how the poet used sound devices or figurative language (or both!) to pull you into the poem. You don't need to tell us what the poem reminded you of, just work with the imagery (which is what figurative language creates) and the sound. Your original post should be at least 150 words and your responses to two other people should be at least 75 words. Make sure you use the language of literature in your original post. Replies need to be relevant to the original post, have to say more than "I agree," and do not have to use the language of literature unless you want to.
