Rule Reminder from the Syllabus: 1. Attendance/discussion Policy: Regular class discussion is crucial to avoid falling behind. You must post 1 reply to each discussion topic that / post, and you must post at least 2 responses to other student's discussion replies (3 minimum per discussion board). I have the discussion board set up where you cannot see anyone else's post until you post. This is to minimize students copying from other students. In addition, if someone responds to your initial discussion post, then you are required to respond to at least one of the respondents. Initial discussion post must be posted by Saturday at 1 pm, and discussion responses must be posted by Sunday at 1 pm. While there is the minimum amount for post, there is no maximum, so if you get into the topic and want to post many replies, please do. Each discussion reply must be well thought out and on topic to get credit. If you answer yes or no without any explanation, then you will not get credit. You must argue more than mere opinion. Thus, each answer must be supported by logical inferences. So, make sure not to use language like I believe, in my opinion, I feel, but instead use I argue, my thesis is, or I think. You must cite the readings for the topic, to get credit, but make sure that your post does not have more than 10% in citation. Also, make sure to argue from your point of view and do not attempt to speak for others, so do not use terminology like "some would argue, or one might argue." Instead, make sure to argue from your point of view. Every initial post must be a minimum of 400 words, but there is no word count requirement for follow up posts to other students. Each answer must demonstrate a good faith effort to grapple with the current philosophical topic. Remember each post must be substantive to get credit. Each discussion answer will need to be submitted to the discussion plagiarism check drop box, before you submit the discussion answer to the discussion board.
