Program that addresses home safety, childhood diseases such as asthma, and

environmental hazards like lead, allergens, carbon monoxide, pesticides, and radon. It

may be helpful to search your community website for current programs or policies. For

example, the Nurses for Newborns program is a local program that provides a safety net

for families most at-risk in order to prevent infant mortality, child abuse, and neglect by

providing in-home nursing visits that promote healthcare, education, and positive

parenting skills. It was initiated due to the research results showing that at-risk moms
