Question

3. A system consists of three assemblies, A, B and C. When the system fails, the repair is

accomplished by replacing the failed assembly with a good one. The following are the failure

rates for assemblies A, B and C, respectively:

AA = 300 failures per million hours

AB = 100 failures per million hours

Ac = 400 failures per million hours

The total system repair time for a failure in each of the assemblies (A, B, or C, respectively) is

as follows:

TA = 30 minutes

TB = 45 minutes

Tc = 10 minutes

Using the technique and formulas described in the WK6-5 lecture notes, please

calculate the Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) for the system.

If you could cut task time for one of the assemblies in half, which, which

assembly would make the biggest difference in the MTTR by doing that?
